La gama de placas de acero martens\u00edtico de alta dureza y baja aleaci\u00f3n tiene una resistencia extraordinaria al desgaste especialmente abrasivo, normalmente de tres a seis veces superior a la de los aceros de construcci\u00f3n cl\u00e1sicos.<\/p><p>Las chapas fabricadas son de grano fino fundido y pueden contener elementos de microaleaci\u00f3n como Nb y V. El mayor nivel de dureza se consigue mediante temple directo (enfriamiento acelerado directamente despu\u00e9s del laminado en caliente) o temple convencional. Si se solicita, se proporcionan valores garantizados de energ\u00eda de impacto de entalla.<\/p><p>Debido a su composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica, las chapas resistentes al desgaste se prestan bien a la soldadura. Se pueden emplear todos los m\u00e9todos de soldadura por fusi\u00f3n probados, pero la soldadura por arco con gas inerte met\u00e1lico ha demostrado ser especialmente eficaz (bajo aporte de hidr\u00f3geno). Por razones de prevenci\u00f3n de grietas, para la soldadura manual por arco el\u00e9ctrico deben utilizarse electrodos con revestimiento b\u00e1sico y contenido controlado de hidr\u00f3geno.
