Ο προσανατολισμένος χάλυβας πυριτίου είναι ένα υλικό από κράμα σιδήρου-πυριτίου χαμηλής περιεκτικότητας σε άνθρακα, με περιεκτικότητα σε πυρίτιο 0,5%~4,5%, το οποίο παρουσιάζει χαρακτηριστικά όπως υψηλή διαπερατότητα (η οποία μπορεί να μειώσει τις απώλειες Joule στον ηλεκτρικό εξοπλισμό, να βελτιώσει την απόδοση και να συμβάλει στην εξοικονόμηση ενέργειας), χαμηλότερες απώλειες σιδήρου και υψηλό συντελεστή αντίστασης.
